I was reading a Time magazine excerpt Just last week I was browsing through a piece in Home Business magazine and found about this thing I had never heard of before called skype phones.You would be astounded what these two intelligent sparks did to make themselves a small fortune, they sold it to ebay.So why am I getting so pumped up?.A lot of people call it voip.It is not a new idea, making long distance calls over the internet for free.

The ramifications are straightforward, the first being that if you can attach a video phone to skipe, you can talk and see just about anyone anywhere in the world.There is a drawback, however, and that is that it is most easily used over a broadband connection.Great pictures are not guaranteed however if your connection is slow.

So I went on Ebay and yes you guessed it, they are peddling phones already due to skyp.Skype is going to be massive from the amount of downloads we have seen since 2004.

Due to Skypes massive success big commercial telephone companies are trying to get a foothold in the marketplace.The question on everyones tongues is will it last the distance.Will it take on the internet by storm, or is it just a passing fad

My guess is that it is still in its infancy and inevitably will go through a phase where a lot of different firms will come up with different ways to do this. The government will undoubtedly see the plusses and want to add money to their coffers by using voip.Skype are charging to make phone calls to cell phones and local regular phones, and that's called skyping out,etc

The next big thing which voip are making a bold move towards is the idea of web conferencing. Web video conferencing was a huge idea about 10 years ago but then fell off the radar but now it is making a comeback

Audio and video are becoming possible for everyone nowadays-in this day and age especially with the massive success of youtube.Some people claim that audio and video will be no big deal but I disagree, I think it will be massive.

Over the next 5 years we will see whether the free skype download takes off in the way many gurus predict.We'll see in the next few years.
